Transgender: Why Are We So Confused?

Posted by Dan Joyce on

Okay, let me start by saying this: I’m a Christian. My faith is important to me, but I also question some of the teachings within religion. However, there’s a new wave, a new generation of LGBTQ+ identity that’s left me seriously wondering what’s going on. Back in my day, we had men, women, and gay. It was pretty straightforward. Gay men and women had their own spaces, maybe a secret bar or something like a drag show or The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It wasn’t mainstream, but it wasn’t hard to understand either.

But now? Now, things are getting confusing. How many gender identities do we have to believe in before we’re getting completely bullshitted? The right nouns, the right pronouns, the right identity on a chart—it's all so overwhelming that I’m left wondering who even am I in all this? And it’s not just me. I’m in the mental health community, and I’m seeing people coming in droves, grappling with these identities. Shouldn't that raise a red flag? Shouldn’t it make us question if this is actually healthy?

Gays used to fight for basic rights—like not getting beat up for who they are. That made sense. They wanted to live their lives without fear of violence, and they deserved that. But now, it feels like the movement has taken over with a tidal wave of "what the fuck?"—and if you don’t know the terms, the pronouns, the ever-changing rules of the new LGBTQ+ handbook, you’re ostracized. It’s like you’re suddenly the enemy if you can’t keep up.

Somebody has to say it: this is junk science. It’s being pushed into public schools and higher educational systems, confusing our kids. Why? Because some gay or lesbian person out there has a resentment for being picked on. Trust me, I know what it’s like to be bullied—I was tall, skinny, and an easy target. But you know what? I walked away and dealt with it. We all have challenges, and we all need to find a way to handle them without dragging society into confusion.

I’m not saying people don’t have the right to live as they choose, but there’s a line between personal freedom and societal chaos. We’re crossing it, and it’s time to step back and take a hard look at where this is all going. Our kids deserve better, and so do we.
