How Telecare Is Releasing Psychotic Convicts on Drugs in Your Neighborhood

Posted by Dan Joyce on

Imagine waking up one morning to find that your new neighbor isn’t just someone moving in after a lease ended, but rather a psychotic convict, fresh off the streets, struggling with drug addiction. You didn’t get a notice, a warning, or even a whisper of what’s going on. They’ve been moved in by Telecare, an organization that’s supposed to help the mentally ill, but is instead creating a ticking time bomb right in your backyard.

Spontaneous Evictions with Nowhere to Go

Telecare has a track record of abruptly evicting their residents—many of whom are mentally unstable, suffering from severe psychosis, and battling drug addiction—without any plan for where these individuals should go next. These evictions happen suddenly, with residents being tossed out onto the streets with their belongings, no place to turn, and often without the mental capacity to fend for themselves. It's a cruel cycle of housing instability that exacerbates their condition, driving them further into desperation and, frequently, back into crime or deeper addiction.

A Dangerous Lack of Transparency

What’s even more shocking is that neighbors are not informed of these new residents' backgrounds or the potential risks they might pose. Telecare seems to operate under a shroud of secrecy, possibly to avoid the backlash that would inevitably follow if people knew that psychotic convicts were being housed next door. And if you, as a resident, dare to inform your neighbors about this potentially dangerous situation, guess what? You’re the one who gets threatened with eviction. It’s as if the safety and peace of mind of the surrounding community are secondary to maintaining this dangerous status quo.

What’s Really Going On?

The reality is stark: Telecare is placing some of the most vulnerable and unstable individuals into communities without the support they need to truly rehabilitate. These individuals often have a history of violent behavior, exacerbated by untreated mental illness and drug addiction. They need intensive care, supervision, and a structured environment—none of which they receive once they’re hastily placed into residential neighborhoods.

The impact on the community is profound. You could have a convicted felon struggling with psychosis and addiction living just a few doors down, without any means of monitoring their behavior or ensuring they’re taking their medication. And you wouldn’t even know it. The lack of transparency and the potential danger it poses to everyday citizens is both alarming and unacceptable.

Time to Demand Accountability

It’s time to hold Telecare accountable. Communities deserve to know who is being moved into their neighborhoods, especially when it comes to individuals who require a high level of care and supervision. Residents should not live in fear of retaliation if they speak out or try to protect their own safety.

The current system is failing both the individuals Telecare is supposed to be helping and the communities they’re being placed into. Until there’s transparency, proper care, and a plan for safely integrating these individuals into society, Telecare’s approach will continue to put everyone at risk.

If you’re concerned about the safety of your neighborhood, it’s crucial to voice your concerns to local representatives and demand that Telecare adopt a more responsible and transparent approach to managing these sensitive situations. Your home and your community shouldn’t be left in the dark.
