Housing and Homelessness: Is Telecare Guilty of Misrepresentation?

During a stay at a local psychiatric hospital, I was assured that upon discharge, I would be placed in a local homeless service, The Illumination Foundation. But, at the last moment, they backed out. Instead, a representative from Telecare approached me, promising housing as part of their service if I signed their contract. Trusting their word, I signed the contract and was promptly discharged. Telecare initially covered a motel stay for two days, but then placed me in a room and board in Orange.

My stay there quickly turned nightmarish. After sharing with one of the residents that I am an atheist, the entire household turned against me, threatening violence. I attempted to contact my healthcare provider, but the residents blocked me from doing so, instead calling themselves and spinning a tale that painted me as the problem. When Miguel from Telecare—who I’ve mentioned in my YouTube video Tales of Telecare—arrived, he refused to hear my side of the story. He gave me just ten minutes to leave the property. Miguel drove me to a local church shelter, which refused to admit me, citing that he frequently sent them recently homeless clients they couldn’t accommodate. This left me homeless for two days, during which time all my clothes and property, including my cell phone, were stolen.

During those two days, Telecare representatives not only refused to house me but also accused me of lying. I was eventually admitted to another psychiatric ward for two weeks. After my release, I was placed in yet another Telecare home in Fullerton, managed by a gang member and parolee. Things seemed to go relatively smoothly until one morning when I complained about the lack of coffee. The manager responded by slamming my face into the cement. He is now in jail, but despite this, I was evicted for calling the police.

Refusing to leave, Telecare’s case manager continued to insist that I was lying and once again delayed providing housing until the last possible moment. They sent me to a neighborhood rife with gangs, drugs, and prostitution—seemingly as punishment.

At this point, I decided I had had enough. I demanded that the landlord remove all drugs from the room and board. Instead of addressing the issue, I was evicted once again. However, this time, I am staying on the property, housed under police protection.

This raises a critical question: Can Telecare get away with this? Their actions seem not only unethical but potentially illegal. Is there any legal recourse available? Do you know of any legal references or resources that might help in this situation? If so, please reply and share your insights.
