So here’s the latest in my quest for that magical, golden ticket into Disney Imagineering…
As you know, I’ve got two resumes floating around—one for my artistic side (complete with gallery shows, comic art, and my illustrated books) and one for “regular” jobs (you know, the ones that pay you to show up and don’t involve glitter). But Disney doesn’t want two versions of me—they want the best version of me. So, it’s time to merge those worlds into one resume worthy of the Mouse House.
I spoke to my caseworker at the clinic, and he’s setting me up with the Department of Rehabilitation. That means I’ll have professional help combining both resumes into one magical scroll of experience. They're also helping set up practice interviews, so I don't go in there rambling about mental health philosophy or the time I almost sold a painting to a guy dressed like Darth Vader.
But here's the real confession... hygiene. Or lack thereof.
Look, I’ve let myself go during all this chaos—cancer tests, housing issues, rejections from Comic-Con and film festivals. Showers have been optional. Brushing my teeth? Let's just say the Tooth Fairy stopped visiting. My hair is channeling Doc Brown from Back to the Future, and a few of my teeth have already retired. Let’s be real—Disney’s not gonna let me into the park looking like a haunted animatronic. I’d send the kids running. (“HEY KIDDIES!!!”)
Today’s Progress:
-
Confirmed I still have an active account on the Disney Imagineering job board. ✅
-
Called the county counselor to schedule my appointment with the Department of Rehab. Practice interviews and resume makeover on the way! 📞
-
Sorted through clothing donations from my dear friend and patron, Jacki O. Trying to pull together a wardrobe that says “professional artist” and not “forgotten background character.” 👔
-
And, of course, blogging to keep all of you on this wild ride with me. 📝
The dream is still alive. A little smelly maybe, but alive. Wish me luck, and if anyone knows a good budget dentist or magical makeover montage... call me.
