Art and About: Finding New Ground and Rising as an Artist

In the whirlwind of life, it’s sometimes the people we call family who push us toward the greatest challenges—and sometimes, the greatest growth. For those who’ve followed my journey, it’s probably no surprise that my fanbase seems to have one recurring wish for me: to detach from the influence of my toxic family and take flight as an artist. Both goals are challenging, but both are possible. My family no longer speaks to me, and while this distance offers relief, it has also left a void—a need for something else to serve as my source of connection and grounding.

In the search for community, there’s a draw toward familiar spaces like churches or 12-step groups, but these often come with expectations to believe or behave in ways that don’t always align with my values or intuition. Therapy and psychology groups are another option, yet they tend to offer more focused, specific support rather than the broader sense of community I’m after.

As an artist, perhaps the best path forward is through art itself: attending events, connecting with other artists, and cultivating friendships that share the same creative drive. A circle of friends who genuinely understand the art world and the journey we’re all on could become that “family” I’ve been seeking. I can see myself inviting friends to gallery openings, collaborating on projects, and creating a supportive network centered on creativity rather than obligation.

Achieving success as an artist remains a steep climb, but my track record of shows, collectors, and events is a sturdy foundation. With a supportive community behind me, I know I stand a better chance of navigating the art world and growing in my career.

The future is looking brighter than ever. With strong hopes, a commitment to my craft, and a newfound focus on building a meaningful support system, I’m moving forward. It’s time to embrace the possibilities and trust that the journey—no matter how uncertain—will lead me to a place where I can finally thrive.
